Description
"Nonviolence is a method that describes a state in which violence is not used, including nonviolent attitudes, behaviors or lifestyles. In the history of meaning, it has mostly found itself in the definition of political struggles such as nonviolent action and nonviolent resistance. However, it is possible to say that throughout history, different meanings have been attributed to nonviolence based on philosophical, religious or principled foundations. Closely related to the systems and ideologies we grew up in, defining nonviolence and discussing what it is can be more difficult than talking about violence. However, when we look at the history of feminist struggle and the LGBTI+ movement, there are many examples of creative resistance and organization against the heteropatriarchal order through nonviolent means.
"What is nonviolence? What are examples of nonviolent action and struggle from the history of resistance? What do nonviolent actions mean for the LGBTI+ movement? What is the importance of nonviolent organizing models for civil society? Can we talk about a single type of nonviolence, what are the types of nonviolence? Is a world without violence possible?" We opened these and many more questions to discussion in the "Nonviolence" issue of Kaos GL.
