Description
Öykü Önal's book of self-portraits contains traces of the ambiguous and veiled areas of her life. The artist's search, which began when she returned years later to her aunt's summer house where she spent her childhood summers, follows the pressures of growing up. Her photographs, which reveal her cynical attitude towards the notion of identity and her own identity - or lack thereof - question our perception of privacy and the body.
"Inner boredom, I'm looking for a story far away, the rest is silence, incompleteness. My grandmother is sitting in the chair I'm sitting in right now. She says, 'heh, why don't you sing it out loud? I don't know what I'm humming, there is no such song. It's boredom. My silence belongs to me. " (Öykü Önal)
