Description
Based on Ceminay Kara and Oğuzhan İzmir's travels and landscape studies around the Meriç River, Talveg conveys what the duo learns during their adventures in a way that leaves as much space as possible for personal expression and coincidence. The book reveals how the Meriç River, which we recognize as a line on the Turkey-Greece border, is actually a multidimensional web of networks, and presents Meriç, who does not care much about the border duty assigned to him, as a character at the center of tensions both between humans and between humans and non-humans.
The anachronism created by the form, which resembles old travel writings with the narratives they create with current concerns, allows us to revisit Meriç, whom we think we know, with an approach that develops around a sense of discovery and curiosity.
Produced with 2021 Border_less Book Fund, the hardcover version of the book was produced with the support of Barın Writing & Binding Workshop.
