Description
Nuri Bilge Ceylan's photography studies, which began in his high school years, were interrupted for about ten years after university, but were reignited when he traveled around Turkey in search of locations for the film Climates. Since then, Ceylan has continued to work as a photographer as well as a filmmaker. Ceylan's long-lasting scenes, shot from unusual angles, seem to defy the desire for stasis and shadows to play a key role. The deep imagery in his photographs is the key to his films. These photographs, which resemble movie frames, are images that have an existence in their own right, transforming lament into elegance.
The trilingual Cinemascope Turkey book is printed with the K-Bind binding technique, which allows uninterrupted viewing of the photographs spread over two pages. The book brings together 100 panoramic photographs taken by Nuri Bilge Ceylan in Anatolia between 2003 and 2014. Each of the photographs in the book, which begins with a passage from the screenplay of the artist's film Kasaba, touches on different stories from Anatolia.
