The decision was not unanimous, it was a majority vote. Of course there were those who did not like the solution chosen. Some had more sensitive consciences than others. But given the value of the army, personal values and ethical considerations had little impact. It shouldn't have. What could the individual presence of a few people mean against one of the fundamental institutions of the secular Republic?
