Description
When we look at the dictionary meaning of quarantine, we are confronted with the words "containment, confinement and observation". While its primary meaning refers to the quarantine process that takes place due to an infectious disease, it is possible to mention that it is a concept that also covers secondary meanings such as "to put someone in a situation where they have to stay alone with the pressure of a community."
What does this concept, which is at the center of our lives with the corona virus (COVID-19), mean for LGBTI+ persons? How did the coronavirus affect the lives of LGBTI+ persons and are social policies sufficient at this point? How did the media handle the pandemic and what is the LGBTI+ representation in this process? What do we encounter when we examine the concept of "social isolation" beyond being a disease measure?
We sought answers to all these questions together with many academics and activists in Kaos GL's "Quarantine I" issue.
